Sheila Eichorst
Interim Director of Children's Ministries & Special Needs
My calling is to feed the littlest lambs of
High Point Church's flock, birth through 5th grade. I am passionate about
laying a foundation of TRUTH in ALL children's lives and I love being involved
in creative ways to help children make God and His Word alive and relevant to
their world today! I believe that prayer is my greatest resource and the Holy
Spirit is my greatest guide!
I am married to Tim and have five children:
Tyler, Kayla, Jess, Jared and Shannon. My home has been my best classroom and
my kids, my best teachers; they have taught me so much! I am very thankful for
the privilege it is to be their mommy!
I grew up in a Christian home and asked Jesus
into my heart when I was a little girl. During my tumultuous teen years, I questioned
God's Sovereignty and wandered away from my Good Shepherd, seeking greener
grass on the other side of the fence.
While living in Naperville, IL, the patient
Shepherd, drew me back to church and into HIS word. In 1994, God moved me and
my family back to Madison. I began attending High Point Church and was baptized
in the summer of 2000. I gave myself totally to the Lord and asked HIM to take
my life and let it be consecrated unto THEE! I have been amazed at how God used
all of my life experiences to prepare me for the work HE has for me to do!
I joined the High Point Church staff part-time
in 2004 as an early childhood assistant and director of the newly-formed Special
Needs Ministry. Under the leadership and loving encouragement of Rose Mugford,
I discovered my gifts of teaching, administration and leadership and am looking
forward to using them to bring GLORY to The Almighty's name.
I love to write poetry, reflections and song
lyrics, as well as essays and biographical profiles. I play the piano and
flute; I love to sing; and I enjoy listening to contemporary Christian music.
Additionally, I love drama and believe that it is a powerful teaching tool. I
am a life-long learner, and from 1990 through the present I have taken several
Beth Moore Bible studies, Precept courses, a comprehensive biblical survey
entitled Thy Kingdom Come, and Experiencing God. I love to be creative, especially
in the classroom. Storytelling is one of my favorite means of creative
expression with young learners. I love making GOD the hero of every story and
the main character of every scene.
