HPC Deaconal Ministries
Deaconal Ministries (Deacon/Deaconess—led) are made up of HPC members and attenders who serve the church and those in need, both spiritually and physically.
The Bible teaches that we are family. God is our Father, and we are His children. As brothers and sisters in Christ’s family at HPC, we are called to minister to one another.
There are three main groups of ministry opportunities. Please consider one (or more) of the following ministry opportunities listed below. Fill out the form at the bottom of the page, and one of the coordinators will call you, answer your questions, and give you details on your selected ministry.
Ceremonies & Ordinances
Coordinator: Dave Kempfer
Communion Preparation and Service:
Staffed by Deacons and Deaconesses
Baptisms and Child Dedications:
Staffed by Deacons and Deaconesses.
Welcome (HUGS) Team:
So you say you're new at HPC and you really do not know anyone. Perfect! Plug into the HUGS Ministry and be an usher or a greeter and you will get to meet almost everyone in the congregation in less than a month.
Congregational Quarterly Potlucks:
As our congregation grows, so does the need for organizers for our potluck dinners. If you enjoy connecting with people and planning a party, this may be the ministry just for you.
Church
Decorations:
Do you have an eye for decorating?Throughout the year, the church, narthex and sanctuary are decorated for various occasions, seasons and holidays.
Congregational Care
Coordinators: Casey Zynda & Steve Tadevich
Hospital, Care Center, Rehabilitation Center Visits:
Do you know an HPC attender who is hospitalized or in a nursing home? If he/she desires a visit from a friendly volunteer, contact us. We come with smiles, a listening ear, and good conversation.
Sick & Homebound Visits, Meals, and Chores:
Reach out to those who are unable to leave their homes due to illness, convalescing, or other circumstances. Volunteers provide a visit, phone call, or hot meal.
Prayer, Spiritual Care & Emotional Support:
One-on-one prayer support and conversation with an HPC volunteer will bring comfort, lift spirits and offer renewed encouragement.
Funeral and Grief Support:
Our ministry works with family members to coordinate funerals. Upon request, grief support is available for those who have lost a loved one, a job or suffered other losses. (See the
Divorce Care Ministry and Divorce Care for Kids
for divorce situations.)
Community Resource Referrals:
When you don’t know which way to turn, and basic care is not enough, referrals to health care professionals or community programs can provide the assistance needed.
Organized Service
Coordinators: Paul & Barb Morin
Spring Church Clean-up:
Churches need spring cleaning, too! Volunteers gather to tidy up the building and grounds of HPC after the winter snows have melted.
Helping Hands Outreach:
A ministry that is committed to providing food for the table and food for the soul. Volunteers make a difference by distributing food and witnessing to recipients.
Men's Shelter Meals:
Volunteers lovingly prepare hot food and serve the men at the Drop-In Men’s Shelter located at Grace Episcopal Church.
Habitat for Humanity:
Volunteers with all levels of experience work with HH teams from the community to build homes for local families.
Disaster Relief Team (“DiRT”)
:
These volunteers mobilize to help disaster victims recover and often work with major relief groups such as Samaritan's Purse and MN-WI Disaster Relief.
I would like to volunteer to work with a Deaconal Ministry!
